I have been a Licensed practical nurse for the last 10 years. When Covid happened, it became clear that our health care system was in big trouble. I love bedside nursing but as the expectations of providing safe care became impossible, I left the bedside to work in community. In community I saw very similar issues resulting in very poor outcomes.
In 2022 I was given the opportunity to instruct both HCA’s and LPNs at Okanagan College. As it turns out I love teaching! The energy and enthusiasm that students bring to class makes me hopeful that we can all make a difference and be the change that we so desperately need in Canadian health care.
